Vaccination

Vaccinations are one of the most effective ways to protect yourself and those around you. Getting vaccinated before exposure helps prevent severe illness and reduces the chance of complications like hospitalisation. Both NCIS (National Childhood Immunisation Schedule) for children and NAIS (National Adult Immunisation Schedule) for adults ensure long-term immunity against preventable diseases under Singapore vaccination framework.

Childhood Vaccination

Singapore's National Childhood Immunisation Schedule (NCIS) includes key vaccinations for children, with free subsidies available for eligible citizens. The schedule starts at birth with BCG and Hepatitis B, and continues with doses at 2, 4, 6, 12, 15, and 18 months, including combinations like 6-in-1, 5-in-1, and PCV, along with MMR and Varicella (chickenpox).

Key vaccinations that are administered from birth to early childhood. (Free for Singapore Citizens)
  • At Birth – BCG (D1), Hepatitis B (D1)
  • 2 Months – 6-in-1 (D1)
  • 4 Months – 5-in-1 (D2), PCV (D1)
  • 6 Months – 6-in-1 (D3), PCV (D2)
  • 12 Months – MMR (D1), Varicella (D1), PCV (D3)
  • 15 Months – MMRV (D2)
  • 18 Months – 5-in-1 (D4)

After 18 months, your child can receive an annual influenza vaccine, which is also fully subsidized for Singapore citizens until 5 years of age.

Adult Vaccination

Recommended vaccinations under the National Adult Immunisation Schedule (NAIS) from age 18 years onwards are as follows:

Vaccine 18–26 years 27–64 years ≥ 65 Years Old
Influenza 1 dose annually 1 dose annually
Pneumococcal 1 or 2 doses 1 dose each
Human papillomavirus (HPV) 3 doses (females)
Tetanus, diphtheria & pertussis (Tdap) 1 dose during each pregnancy
Measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) 2 doses
Hepatitis B (HepB) 3 doses
Varicella (VAR) 2 doses

Influenza Vaccine

Influenza vaccines help to prevent influenza (known as flu), a common infection caused by Influenza virus types A and B. Flu symptoms include fever, chills, headache, feeling tired, muscle aches, sore throat and cough.

A flu vaccine can help reduce risk of flu-related illnesses, hospitalisation and other complications. It takes 2 weeks for protection to develop after vaccination. The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone aged 6 months and older One dose is recommended per year as flu viruses are constantly changing, and your body's immunity to influenza viruses may decrease over time.

Who Should Get the Flu Vaccine?

  • Young Children aged 6 months to 5 years.
  • Older Adults aged 65 years and older.
  • It is safe and recommended for women to get the vaccine at any stage of pregnancy because the risk of serious complications is higher.
  • Individuals with Chronic Medical Conditions such as asthma, heart disease, diabetes, kidney or liver disease, and neurological conditions.
  • Individuals with weakened immune systems. This includes those with conditions like leukemia, HIV, or who have had organ transplants.
  • Children and adolescents (aged 6 months to 18 years) receiving long-term aspirin therapy.
  • Healthy adults getting vaccinated can protect those around you and reduce the spread of the virus.
